King Louis Philippe had only been three years on the French throne when, in 1833, Benjamin BOHIN created a workshop for wooden objects, trinkets and toys right beside his house.
In 1868 he decided to gather together several small workshops belonging to needle and pin craftsmen on the banks of the Risle river, which he then set about modernizing. The river provided the power while tin, brass and steel wire were the raw materials they used.
